Minimalist design in flatware is where it’s at right now and for good reason. The fancy shmancy silverware days of yore are behind us and we welcome our utilitarian overlords. David Mellor’s “Minimal” is lean and mean. The fork and knife are functional and the design flows. The spoon on the other hand is more of a ladle and doesn’t fit well. For a better spoon and something a little less minimal check out his “London” design.

GraciousStyle.com has an amazing collection of guides published as PDF books. Titles include everything from “The Perfect Tablecloth” to “The Perfect Bed”. Did I mention they are free online? Of special interest is “The Perfect Flatware” guide. It’s a wonderful online book with beautiful colour plates that make you wish for a hard copy in your hands.

Happy Halloween! When I started to look for Halloween themed cutlery I was expecting to find skeleton forks or something, but this was an unexpected find. The perfect container for the orange and black plastic flatware at your child’s party. And if you are into that scene then it’s handy year round. Don’t forget that to some people everyday is Halloween. And more importantly remember that it’s still cool to eat your chocolate bar with a fork and knife.
Unica Home – C2 from Mono
Unica Home is a nice retail site for everything you might need in your home. OK, maybe not need, more like want. Bonnie and Hugh run the website out of Las Vegas and have an eye for the unique. Eveything from black skull plateware to toy cars. The pictured cutlery is “C2 from Mono” which has an amusing way of letting you tell your server whether you want meat or fish. Go take a look.
