The Cookie Spoon – aka The Oreo Dipper

cookie spoonI came across this unique piece of cutlery by accident, I was looking for a children stainless steel flatware set that was all smooth corners and safe for little hands and little mouths. Instead I stumbled across this, the Ultimate Cookie Spoon!

This BPA free cookie cradle comes in five possible colors and allows you to safely and securely dip your favorite cookie (probably Oreo) into your milk without wet fingers or broken or lost cookie bits.

An interesting quote from the creator:  “My favorite snack as a kid was Oreos and milk, but they would always break and fall into the milk if I dunked them for too long! As an adult, I still had the same problem so I set out to solve the issue and created the Dipr. Now, all ages can enjoy the dunking experience without losing their cookies!”

Yes, this is a one use piece of kitchen cutlery, but it’s for cookies! Think about the cookies!

Farberware Chipotle Sand Flatware – Always buy two sets of cutlery.

farberware chipotle sand flatwareThis is a gorgeous and reasonably priced 20 piece flatware set by Farberware with service for four. Including a salad fork, dinner fork, dinner knife, soup spoon and teaspoon. Made of the standard 18/0 stainless steel with a brushed finish. It is dishwasher safe with a 25 year limited warranty.

There is a lesson to be learned here. It’s a nice set but I heartily recommend you buy two sets of this cutlery. A service for four is never enough and going back to find and buy a second set is a constant mistake I see.  There are websites out there the specialize in helping people find sets to match existing ones because of this very common mistake. Remember, always buy at least a service for eight, whether it is for serving guests, cutting down on dishwasher cycles or to have extras for lost cutlery…

Breaking Spoons – Cutlery gone wrong

broken spoonAs always we try to have a little bit of fun on Mondays around here. This image showed up on the infamous Reddit website which is a known source for my local morning TV news and yet they never give credit. I can’t find the original post this image came from but it was Reddit none the less.

This picture certainly conveys the old adage that you should use the right tool for the right job. We’ve recommended the OXO ice cream scoop for situations like this. It’s a funny and in real life very frustrating situation but it does speak to what we are trying to do with this blog. We want to research cutlery and inform our readers on what we find are the right tools and why the perform the job well…

Magnetic Knife Bar

magnetic knife barA magnetic knife bar means handy access to your knives and a great way to store them. Throwing knives into a drawer to bump and grind up against each other means blades nicks and dulling.

This 18 inch aluminum knife bar from Norpro will hold any metal objects, not just knives. And it’s not just for cutlery in the kitchen, it can be useful for tools in the garage as well. It mounts with screws but I’ve installed one on a glass tile back splash with a glue gun and it held nicely for years.
