Aimie Botelho – Consumption Cutlery

Aimie Botelho - Consumption Cutlery

We at The Cutlery Review were told about Aimie Botelho and her amazing work by our Aunt Tammy. We have never met Aimie but we feel a kindred spirit in her work designing cutlery. And she likes Mr.Bungle as well!

A quick bio: Aimie Botelho is a Kitchener-based artist blacksmith. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours: Summa Cum Laude), as well as a Bachelor of Education. Following university, she pursued a traditional apprenticeship as a blacksmith at Two Smiths. Aimie has been forging for over 10 years, and loves sharing her passion for art and metal through teaching. She currently works at Two Smiths, as well as at Fleming College as an instructor in the Artist Blacksmith Program.

Aimie is metal sculptor who creates some very original work. Here’s what she has to say about “Consumption Cutlery”:

“I am creating a collection of inconveniently-shaped forged cutlery. This ongoing project is a reflection on overconsumption and the avoidance of discomfort.”
