Stainless Steel Barbecue Fork by OXO Good Grips

oxo grips stainless steel barbecue forkIt’s that time of year when all food should be slowly roasted in the open air. Whether you are using charcoal or propane or an open fire you need a good barbecue fork.

My experience with backyard cutlery has usually not been good. I’ve been gifted sets of bbq utensils and none are quite up to snuff. So I’ve taken to buying one quality item at a time.

OXO Good Grips line of products have done me well in the past so I’m looking at their stainless steel barbecue fork. It has a soft rubber handle and sturdy construction. It’s 19 inches long and weighs a light 7 oz with a slight curve giving it extra lifting strength. Dishwasher and of course barbecue safe.

Fred Party People Chopsticks Utensils

Fred Party People Chopsticks UtensilsChopstick utensils? Chopstick cutlery? Chopstick flatware? I’m not sure what it should be called but it’s a chopstick hybrid of sorts that is for sure.

I like the fact that these chopsticks work well for children and chopstick beginners. This set comes in a colorful set of six with a foam base that could be used for storage (but I wouldn’t recommend it, not food safe).

Being plastic they don’t have the same grip as wood chopsticks so that is a bit of a problem. But here is where they really shine: cooking! They are amazing cooking tongs for flipping and stirring in Teflon pots and pans. That reason alone makes them worth the purchase!

Star Spangled Spatula

Star Spangled SpatulaIt’s that time of year and what better way to celebrate than a backyard BBQ? And how could you be more patriotic that using a Star Spangled Spatula?

This American made cutlery was designed by Jacob Riley-Wasserman for the company Areaware. It is made from solid walnut and stainless steel. Hand fabricated by one of the oldest and most-respected cutlery manufacturers in the United States since 1837. They are using energy harvested from Massachusetts’ Deerfield River.

Good to see they practice what they preach.
