Christmas Silverware Holders – Santa Suit Pockets

christmas cutlery

I’m certain you’ve noticed in a recent visit to any department store that Christmas is looming. Seems we are being trained to start preparing the minute after Halloween. I’ll admit that we don’t decorate in November but we certainly start to plan and collect what we’ll need for the holiday season.

These cute little cutlery holders for your silverware are perfect for the Christmas dining room table. Each Santa themed pocket will hold a fork, knife and spoon. They come in a set of 6 that include 3 pair of pants and 3 jackets. They are made of polyester so they will hold up pretty good but I wouldn’t recommend machine washing them.

Our plan is the pants for the boys and the coats for the girls to indicate seating arrangements. And they are not just for the kid’s table! (When will I finally get to sit at the adult’s table?).

Fork Chops – Chopsticks with a Fork and Knife

fork chopsIf you look over at our History & Technical page you will see a map at the bottom with the different breeds of cutlery. Amongst the splayds, knorks, and spifes you will not find the Fork Chop. These hybrid of the chopstick and a fork and knife are a little off the map.

Made of plastic these aren’t an everyday use item, but they aren’t disposable either and are dishwasher safe. The best use for these I have found is when serving tapas or cheese platters. But where they seem to really work well is with the Knife and Fork Caesar Salad.

Ceramic Flatware Caddy (or Cutlery Caddy?)

cutlery caddy

Why don’t they call it a Cutlery Caddy? I think alliteration is clever, but I like puns as well so don’t mind me. I have always found cutlery caddies (I’m sticking with this term) and racks for flatware very handy when you have buffet style dining. This set is nice enough to be used at the dining table and useful for when someone drops a fork or decides they need a spoon for the dessert they declined twice. This set comes in a nice wooden tray with three ceramic containers for knife, fork and spoon. Please be careful as the ceramic containers don’t seem to be dishwasher safe and will break if dropped. Best guess on capacity is at least a serving set for eight diners.

Steel Spoon Straws

21P-9oVqInLThe steel spoon straws from Danesco have a plethora of uses. I’ve seen them used by bartenders for mixing and serving drinks. I’ve seen them used with that cool South American Mate drink. I’ve seen them used in Ice Cream parlors to get the last little bit of delicious out of the bottom of the metal milk shake cup.  And best of all, it’s a straw that you didn’t know you had when you don’t have any. Cause really, who keeps straws in the house?
