iSi Slim Silicone Spatula – Another Nutella Knife?

iSi Slim Silicone SpatulaFor a while there it seems that Nutella posts were our bread and butter. The short of it is that a regular bread knife does not do a great job of scooping from the bottom of jars and spreading on bread or the like. So the hunt for the perfect Nutella knife continues…

The latest entry in the battle of Nutella spreaders is this iSi Slim Silicone Spatula. It has a thin sharp edges and is 1.5″  wide. The non-stick silicone is heat resistant up to 600 degrees and dishwasher safe.

iSi had other sizes of this versatile piece of kitchen cutlery but this one seems to be just right for Nutella and the reviews are amazing.

Does this Spoon make your food taste better?

best-spoonThis spoon is the Goûte, it is the result of studies “in search of the perfect spoon”. It is to replicate action of dipping it and licking your fingers.

The Goûte, is an interesting piece of flatware made in both glass and wood. It was created by Andreas Fabian, a professor at Bucks New University who has a PhD in Spoons and Spoonness (honestly, that is what it says). He is working with chef Charles Michel.

From their site :

Modelled after the finger, Goûte is a teardrop-shaped glass wand designed to eat creamy foods like peanut butter, Nutella, yogurt, or chocolate mousse.

This hand-crafted utensil enhances creaminess and sweetness perception, heightens the value of food and makes for a more mindful eating experience.

Cunning cutlery design or silly stick? You decide.

Our Top Cutlery Posts of 2015

It’s the end of 2015 and 2016 is barging in whether we want it to or not. We’ve taken a look at what were the most popular posts in the last year and wanted to highlight them. So let’s start at the top:

spife-nutella-utensil

In first place by a huge margin is anything even remotely related to Nutella. It is such a popular topic on this blog that we even made a category for Nutella. And the shown Nutella knife (or Spife) was the top of the charts. You people are crazy for Nutella.

Artaste Rain Stainless Steel Flatware

In second place is the Artaste Rain Stainless Steel Flatware which a lot of people really liked and the feedback after purchasing was quite good. And I have to say this is one of the nicer and better staged photos for cutlery that we’ve seen in a long time.

And in third place is not cutlery or flatware but a wonderful piece of artwork. The Vintage Kitchen Silverware Canvas Wall Art  of a Spoon, Knife & Fork was a post from 2014 that continues to be a very popular item in 2015.

tim burton cutlery is isaie blochSalvador Dali - Ménagère

And an honorable mention goes out to two celebrity related cutlery items. “This is not Silverware by Tim Burton. It’s by Isaïe Bloch.” and “Salvador Dali – Ménagère (Cutlery Set) 1957” both seemed to settle a lot of discussion about who made what and when and what it sold for.

Have a great 2016 everyone!

The Nutella Spife

spife-nutella-utensilNutella is a passion for people that almost borders on being a cult. We have entire category dedicated to Nutella posts. It started with everyone trying to find the perfect Nutella knife that fit the jar nicely.

Well I guess the company heard you all and is now offering a contest (in Canada only at this point) to win your very own Nutella Spife. I have to admit it’s a clever idea but a spoon would only be used for eating Nutella in my opinion and the knife looks a little shaky. I’d consider it a collector’s novelty. You can enter to win this nutty choco cutlery at Addjoy.Nutella.Ca

We still recommend the Wusthof Gourmet 5-Inch Spreader as the more practical option.
