Nutella Spreader Revisited – Part 2 – Cuisipro Peanut Butter and Jelly Spreader

Welcome to Part 2 of a 3 part series on what to buy because you can’t find this Nutella Spreader. Today we are looking at a piece of kitchen cutlery that is very specifically designed for the application of peanut butter and jelly (or jam). I know many of my UK readers think this combination is rather unappealing but it’s a favorite in North America.

It has color-coded ends made of silicon so you know what goes where and don’t have cross-contamination. Nothing worse than smears of peanut butter in the jam jar as it can cause mold to form quickly. Nutella Spreader Revisited – Part 1- The Zyliss Sandwich Knife

My post about the Nutella Spreader from last year generated the most interest by far on this blog. At the time I did some research to find that the Nutella branded knife wasn’t easily available and suggested an alternative. Well it seems people want a different and more suitable knife. Many people had many different reasons they liked the Nutella Spreader so I’ve done some extensive research and will be presenting my findings in 3 parts.

zyliss sandwich knifeThe first today is sticking to a standard steel traditional sandwich knife. The Zyliss Sandwich Knife has a serrated stainless steel blade for cutting and an oval shaped blade for Nutella or other tasty delights that need spreading on your bread. The design fits the inside of the jar nicely. It has a soft touch yellow plastic ergonomic handle which is non-slip. It isn’t stainless steel and probably not very dishwasher friendly but a great cutlery multi-tasker in the kitchen.

Silicone Spatulas for just about everything

silcone spatulaThis set of three spatulas are made of heat resistant silicone that can handle up to 500 degrees. But be careful as the handles aren’t quite up to that resistance and can melt or break if left in a pot with the handle resting on the edge. I like the blue color with clear handles and the little one is great for spreading peanut butter or Nutella.

They are resistant to stains and odor and just fine in the dishwasher. I’d recommend getting two sets at this price.

Nutella Spreader or Knife Spreader?

This “Nutella Stretcher” picture has been racing around the Internet the last few days. It claims to be the perfect knife for emptying the jar and spreading Nutella. A Google search shows that this is a myth in North America and was a promotional item in Europe. A even better piece of cutlery that isn’t promotional branding and uni-purpose is this:

It is a ultimate sandwich knife and more. With 5-inch serrated spreader blade that will spread as well as cut where needed. It’s made of stamped high-carbon steel with a stainless alloy coating (I wouldn’t put it in the dishwasher). It is 10 by 2 inches with a plastic handle. It’s made by Germans and lasers, like Kraftwerk!
