Handmade Tableware by TITASY

titasy

We here at the Cutlery Review are always looking for innovative new and challenging designs. Pinterest (visit our board here) is a great hunting ground as people are always contributing their new wonderful finds.

The image above is what started us on the hunt to find this page on Pinterest of handmade tableware that is incredible. Further google-fu led to this Etsy shop run by TITASY. And even more digging led to their company page http://www.titasy.co.kr/.

TITASY’s designer and president is James Park of Seoul, South Korea. He majored in metal crafts in university and graduate school and has been creating tableware since 2005.

Modern methods for making Cutlery – a video demonstation

Last week we looked at a video about how handmade cutlery is created.  This week’s video is from the David Mellor cutlery team. This modern method for creating cutlery still creates a excellent end product. But notice that  no matter how much technology is used you still need skilled craftsmen to create flatware like this. BTW – The video has no audio track, so don’t keep trying to turn it up like I did.

Airline Steak Knife

stupid steak knifeIt is Monday and it is feeling like Dumb-day. Pictured above is a “knife” that was provided on a flight to cut steak with. Looks like it could barely cut butter. I’ve been given plastic cutlery to eat steak with in the past and this seems worse. Waste of steak and a waste of time. Welcome to Dumb-day.

And don’t even think about taking your own cutlery on a plane:
