Spoon Art – Motorcycle by James Rice

OK, time for a fun Friday before a long weekend post. Someone sent me this photo of amazing piece of cultural cutlery art. An amazing artist spent a lot of time bending these spoons into an detailed motorcycle artwork piece. Anyone know who did this? I’d really love to give them credit for this flatware find. I know who made the spoon motorcycle! My husband, James Rice, makes them. This is #5 of 7 that he’s finished so far. I made a Facebook page, Everlasting Spoonful, where I share about him, and his work. This month, that sculpture, called “The Wasp” is on display at the Washington State Fair, in the Fine Art Show! I played drums in High School and the first thing I noticed about these interesting pieces of musical cutlery is that you would be holding these drumsticks on the wrong end, not a bad thing, just strange. But it you have a drummer who is also a cook then this drumstick spoon set is the perfect gift. The musical note in the slotted spoon is pretty cool and very handy.

Consisting of a regular spoon and a slotted spoon that are made of solid beechwood and 13 inches long. I would recommend that you treat them with a food grade oil like walnut oil before using and then they will hold up in the dishwasher a lot better.
