A service for 8 set with a whopping 45 pieces. The thing that strikes me most about this set is that it’s 18/10 stainless steel that looks and feels like silverware. But no polishing and it is dishwasher safe. Use it everyday and use it for the special occasions. It’s Henckel so you know you are getting quality. This would be a wedding present the future couple would use for years.

Minimalist design in flatware is where it’s at right now and for good reason. The fancy shmancy silverware days of yore are behind us and we welcome our utilitarian overlords. David Mellor’s “Minimal” is lean and mean. The fork and knife are functional and the design flows. The spoon on the other hand is more of a ladle and doesn’t fit well. For a better spoon and something a little less minimal check out his “London” design.
An interesting article by Brendan McConville the professor of history at Boston University. These silver communion spoons were built with specifically chosen silver coins. His article contains many topics that intrigue me such as repurposed coins, Guy Fawkes (which is this sunday) and Alan Moore. OK, the last one is a stretch.
