Happy Holidays from The Cutlery Review

spoon licker

This is Spoon Licker. On December 15th, he sneaks into houses and licks the wooden spoon used to scrape pots. He is a Yule Lad that is part of Icelandic fork lore, I mean folklore.

And he is wishing all of you a Happy Holidays from The Cutlery Review!

TOAKS Titanium Folding Flatware (Fork, Knife & Spoon)

Folding Flatware, I love alliteration. This titanium folding cutlery by TOAKS is classic Everyday Carry Cutlery. And it’s the season that this set would be the perfect stocking stuffer for that camper, student or lunchroom worker in your life. Sadly it isn’t offered as a set and you need to buy each fork, knife and spoon separately. But they are a really good price for titanium.

This is a purchase that can last a lifetime as long as it’s not lost. They would all hook on a carabiner nicely.

Star Wars Cutlery

new star wars cutleryWell, the big movie is coming up soon and it’s all things Star Wars all the time. And a great gift for the foodie Star Wars fan in your family is the Star Wars Cutlery from ThinkGeek.

This fun flatware set includes a Luke fork, Yoda spoon, and Vader knife. How are they named? They are replicas of the handles of the lightsaber that each character uses in the films.

Now be warned that they don’t light up like lightsabers and they are definitely not dish-washer safe. They are made of stainless steel and food-grade ABS plastic.

Isaac Mizrahi Abernathy Flatware

Isaac Mizrahi 20-Piece Abernathy Flatware SetIsaac Mizrahi (yes that fashion icon Isaac Mizrahi) has a very nice set of cutlery available called Abernathy.  This 20 piece set is a serving for four. It’s made of heavy gauge stainless steel that is dishwasher safe.

They say this design is a convergence of form and function and I have to agree. The mirror finish and understated look let the flatware stand alone as it were. This would be a great starter set to give as a gift to someone with their first home kitchen.
