This is the first in our “Different Types of Spoons” series and when are going to start with the mainstay and classic “Dinner Spoon”.

The Dinner Spoon (or Table Spoon) − It has elongated round cup. It is used to eat main course food items. It can pick up just the right amount of rice, stew, or curry. It is always paired with a fork (with four tines) of the same length or a dessert knife.

And our pick here at The Cutlery Review for a fine flatware Dinner Spoon are the Hiware Dinner Spoons. This set of 12 is made of food grade stainless steel with a mirror polish. They are dishwasher safe and 7.3 inches long.

People really seem to love these spoons and they are a great price.

“When they were rehearsing, Florence was like, ‘I’ll need to get some implements. So, we’ll go over here.’ She picked it up and just went, ‘There’s one fork! There’s only one fork!’ So, that’s where that dialogue came from,” Bertie explained. “The props people were searching around for other forks, but they only had plastic ones, so it became the one proper cutlery fork and one plastic fork. It was perfect and it all went into the script and we came out with this hilarious Yelena and Kate scene. Florence and Hailee are just so relaxed with each other that Hailee could come out with the, ‘I’m one person,’ line as response to Florence running with the cutlery joke. It was funny, but also very Kate.”

What we learn from this is that having a decent set of cutlery is grade level for quality of life. Even in Russia.

GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Kung Foon

GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Kung Foon Utensil

Come on! Kung Foon? That’s hilarious! The silly name for this camping cutlery is what initially caught our eye. But then at second glance it was the functionality that really caught us.

The GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Kung Foon Utensil is a spoon, fork and a set of chopsticks all in one easy to carry package. It’s compact size measures 10.7 x 1.9 x 0.9 inches. The Foon is made of stainless steel (supposedly there is a titanium version but we can’t find it) and the chopsticks are made of bamboo.

I guess you could call it flatpack flatware? The extension by the chopsticks make it great for reaching the bottom of freeze dried meal bags and tall pots.

Great for the backpack or purse for “Bring Your Own Cutlery“!
