We really like Everyday Carry Cutlery around here and this set by Baladéo is very sleek looking.
It comes in a mesh carrying case with an aluminum carabiner. With a quick attach system and liner lock it totals a paltry 52 grams.
Made of stainless steel with a 2.95 inch (7.5 cm) blade it includes a fork, spoon, can opener and bottle opener.
It snaps together and folds up into a small little package. This would be perfect for camping, picnics and hiking. And would be handy in the lunch room as well.

I am declaring that summer is here, official or not. And summer requires picnics and that requires good food and drink. And what better to shlep all the equipment you require than a picnic backpack? My parents gave us one and I plan on using it as much as possible this summer season.
The “All In One Picnic Travel Backpack Plates Cutlery Set” from Furniture Creations comes with a full place setting for four. Look at the picture above. Spot for the wine bottle, cutting board, plates, glasses, cutlery, and an insulated pack to keep food cold. Now just imagine that nice spot in the park and the delicious meal. And the sunshine. And the seaside. And the ants, remember there are always ants at a picnic 🙂

OK, first thing to point out is that this is a single setting for one person consisting of five pieces: 8-1/2′ Dinner Fork, 9′ Knife, 6-1/2′ Salad Fork, 8′ Soup Spoon, and a 6′ French Teaspoon. All are made of dishwasher safe 18/8 stainless steel.
The next thing to point out is that this is France’s genuine 19th century Laguiole with the ‘bee’ symbol and everything. More famously known for their wine and cheese knife their line of knives and cutlery hold their name and quality dearly much like “Champagne” does (and I would love to start a Champage blog if I had more hours in the day). The weighted hand hold feel of this set is delightful and takes a fine dining meal one step higher up the ladder. Beautiful work.

Cooking chopsticks are something that once you use them you aren’t sure how you got along with out them in the past. Now I have to warn you up front, you should be already proficient with regular chopsticks before stepping up to the stove with a pair of these. But if you can pull it off it will be worth it.
From Joyce Chen comes the “Taste N Cook” 13-Inch burnished bamboo chopsticks. These aren’t exactly dishwasher safe but will last a very long time with the occasional food oil treatment to keep them from drying out. The tiny fork and spoon ends re-enforce the old adage that you need to taste your food while cooking. They are a little short for working with large pot meals but are perfect for frying and smaller dishes. Really good for Shabu Shabu and other soups of that style.
